Subject: CSA Update: seeking more shares, and other info
06/03/2007 07:14:19 PM PDT

Hey y'all!

Well the weather certainly has been hot, which has been great for the tomatoes and peppers and eggplants, but not so fun for your farmer, who still has beds to dig. But Rose Festival is upon us, and as all Cascadians know, it always rains then. The crops in the various plots will surely appreciate the moisture. On Saturday I planted eight 90-foot rows of snap beans -- 11 different kinds -- on Saturday. SEEKING MORE CSA SHARES:
When I made out the budget for this farm year, I anticipated that I would have crops to sell at market by the beginning of May. Well, here it is the first week of June, and it looks like I won't have enough for that until July, or even August. So, a budget that was based on bringing in monetary income half from CSAs and half from Market has been adjusted: 2/3 CSAs, 1/3 market is much more realistic. I definitely have enough produce to serve more households, so I am now seeking more! These folks will pay a sum based on the number of weeks remaining in the CSA. Please spread the word to folks you know who might be interested. Feel free to pass along my email and phone number (503.686.5557) and send them to the website: http://www.trashfactory.net/sunrootgardens, which will be updated regularly with the current share price.

Thank you so much for your support and assistance! I am documenting how everything is going this year so that I can plan better for next year.

YOUR NEXT CSA:
We will be skipping a week just one more time, and after this we'll be weekly. So, I will be doing deliveries Wednesday, June 13th, for those of you who are in Southeast. The SW drop-off at Try/On will be the following Sunday, the 17th.

In this next share: more turnips, more salad greens, and my very favorite hardy green: Red Dandelion Chicory, a beautiful and tasty Italian heirloom.
